What is Pay Per Click?

Pay per click means that if your ad is displayed and someone clicks on it then you are charged for the click. You are not charged for the inpression of your ad. For example, you have a site selling car wheels and request for your ad to be displayed as a text ad on Google search results. Your ad is displayed 1000 times in the first day but only 5 potential customers click on your ad. You are charged 5 times for the clicks and not 1000 times for the ad displays.

What is the difference between SEO and PPC (Pay Per Click)?

SEO and PPC both display a text ad on google search results however google uses completely different algorithms to work out which ad to display first. For your ad to display above other ads for PPC your ad should be relevant to your site. You should also bid a sufficient amount to place it above other ads to a position that you are satisfied with.

When should I use PPC advertising?

PPC advertising can be use continuously to promote your services or products. The main advantage of PPC campaigns is that they allow for the testing of a new product or service in short amount of time. A campaign can be set up within a few hours and tested over a week to see whether the intended site can convert customers. If this proves positive then a SEO campaign can be looked into for a more efficient long term objective.
